Mikulov (ger. Nikolsburg) is a part of the historic Moravian region located directly on the border with Lower Austria and on the edge of the hilly area „Pavlovské vrchy“. Its foundation goes back to the 12th century, then in 1410, it was established as a city. Since the very beginning, this area has been well-known for its wine. The Castle, as a dominant of the region, was built in the 17th century in the place of originally Romance, later Gothic castle. Till the middle of the 20th century, it was home to European noble families of Liechtensteins and Dietrichsteins.
The summer school will take place at Mikulov Castle straight away. The course participants will surely appreciate neither beautiful space of Mikulov castle and views from adjacent castle gardens nor the picturesque historical centre with multiple wine shops. They can use free Wednesday afternoon for a hike to the nature reserve on the Holy Hill or a trip to Lednice Castle.
